John is an awesome drummer. He had a different style than Tre. John's drumming was the best in Isocracy though.

that performance of 1000 hours at the end was special. the way that everyone knew the words, even though they hadn't been going that long by this stage.

John was and still is a great drummer, They did luck out tho by getting Tre when John choose to leave the band. The problem is that theres a Fan base that has no clue of the 2 best green day albums, those being 1039 smoothed out slappy hours and Kerplunk.

john was a great drummer. not a patch on tre, but i think that the highlight of their first album was actually john's drumming.

Definitely. He did give them a great start of their career and helped them play at many different places they wouldn't be able to play without him. He had some sort of authority.
