Contract killings on the rise in Philippines -- July 11 2008

Back

The rise of gun violence in the Philippines is being blamed on the country's notoriously slow judicial system. Legal action is costly and can take years and as a result, many people resort to murder as a means of settling grievances. Al Jazeera's Marga Ortigas reports

I say good for that Hitman that he can make some money while getting rid of those gabbage that pollute the philippines. If those rich Chinoys(filipino chinese) and Mestizos wanna knock each other out then thats fine with me, thieve plagued this country with their corruption and greed for to long.

Wow, people like you do actually exist. No wonder you're still stuck in poverty. Yes let's all blame the tsinoys and mestizos!

Why blame the Chinoys for doing the same corrupt practices that the regular Filipino does everyday? They do it, because the ordinary Filipino masses engage in corruption and breaking the law everyday. If you want them to set a good example, then you should lead with a good example. Besides, the Chinoys did more for the Philippines, than your own sorry dumb+complacent brown ass can do. U had the chance to build your country for 60 years now and still you can't do it. Pathetic.

Sad to see a life can be worth $100 USD in the Philippines. Yet life doesn't seem worthless because people are still dying to live. The world is very much a paradox.

The CIA themselves admitted to trying to knock off Fidel Castro alone a half-dozen times....

"Do you think journalists should have to reveal their sources to the police? Instinctively I'd say yes," Woaahhh! That's a seriously fucked up instinct you've got there! Protection of journalistic sources is one of the very core fundamentals of a free press, and protection from totalitarian society. Just think how many leaks and whistleblowers you will stop from coming out if you expect sources to be revealed. In many cases, the police / justice system / politicians ARE the problem.

I agree, read my comment after the comma. Nonetheless I think you provided a pretty good defense of protecting journalist's sources.
