This nice music, but to all the lovers of the great Bud Powell I say: listen to the life concert at Birdland with Charlie Parker and Fats Navarro in 1950. There you can hear the real genius in Out of nowhere, Ornithology or I remember April !

That's like...the instrumental equivalent of racism, I think it depends on the musician. But you shouldn't do it.

To be honest, I only know of Powell and Tatum who didn't. All other jazz pianists do, and I don't know a single classical pianist who doesn't or didn't. Why should my opinion be akin to racism? I am an avid amateur pianist and publisher of a piano magazine who heard very many pianists in person. And they all look at their hands when playing.

Well, my facetious comment of "racism" was only pointing out the generalization of pianists looking at their hands. Looking at your hands while you play isn't in itself bad, but if your reading music, or trying to communicate with your bandmates, it makes it infinitely harder. I just think it's a bad habit. Sorry, I didn't mean any offense.
