Despite the sound of applause, this sounds too processed and looks to mechanical to be anything other than Joni is lip-synching an earlier recording (which is how Andy Williams and other variety shows were and are still frequently done.) In the name of homogenized "perfection" (note the echo chamber in this performance)what is lost is the spontaniety and spark that comes from a true live performance. Because it is Joni it is good, but it could and should have been so much better.

No, this is not lip synced. No way.

Just thinking she was only 24 when she wrote the song! That's amazing! She's such a wonderful artist.

As everyone else has already said - awesome, unique, phenomenal. Thanks. (And note that distinctive Canadian "out" in "right out loud"...; never noticed it before. I think she expunged it from her pronunciation in due course, sadly.)

You are right,Canadians say "out" that way and so do people like me from Lancashire, England which is very different to the way people from London say it.

This was obviously way before my time, so I can't say I feel the nostalgia that most of the other commenters can talk about...But when I first heard this song a few years ago (after downloading it by accident) I was immediately touched by the depth of it...Truly enlightening.

A few year's back' I put out an add 4 a female vocalist. A young women with a British accent called and asked" what's a Joni Mitchell? The only thing I could think of to say back was... If u don't know' I'm sorry.... But I just can't help ya.

WoW!! What a phenominal talent...I listen to many types of music; but what a simple, emotional joy her music is!! I was a teenager at the time she did this great song. Too bad music really doesn't have quite the same ring today... ok I will digress...Peace!!
