oriontiger....only stargate:alantis uses 8 symbols ...sg1 used 7..... the movie and sg-1 never specifically said they were leaving this galaxy.......atlantis on the other hand does...or maybe the pegasus galaxy is farther away then most other galaxies...who knows

then that explains a lot boo. and even if they occasionally guess star thats not enough 4 me. and well if its not james spader playing jackson and its not kurt playing o neil then its just not the same 4 me. and i bet its not the same 4 u when u watch the movie.

and this is another reason y movie o neil wasnt lively. in the movie o neil got orders 2 stay behind and confirm he blew up the stargate with an atom bomb. so that means he went on that mission knowing he was gonna die. then he finds out that jackson cant reopen the stargate so all of them are stuck. so that means not only is he (o neil) gonna die but all of them. id like 2 see how lively u are when that happens 2 u and want 2 kill urself. thats y he not all chearfull and what not.

and groovinmojoman it is contradicting the movie. in the movie they only use 7 symbols 2 travel 2 another galaxy. so in the movie u only need 7 symbols 2 travel anywhere. if the tv show says u need 8 to travel 2 another galaxy then it is contradicting the movie. it is a flaw just admit it.

sg1 had something real in itself but atlantis was too obsurd i think in my opinion sg1>movie>atlantis ; )

the 8th symbol is like an area code-you use it if you are dialing a different galaxy, so it is not contradicting anything in the movie. I saw the movie first, but I like both. The series really branches out the movie to cover many different.
