Phase 1 and 2 is called UPT (phase one acedemics and phase 2 is T-6). Phase 3 is called SUPT (specializing on a aircraft). whoever gets the T-38 will be flying fighters or bombers.

I was a T-38 FAIP at Reese from 82-85. I was in 82-01 and had a ball. I was probably an FCF pilot when you went through UPT and while you were a Tweet IP. Just like the song says..."Standing on Top of the World". How true it is.

So true...I just didn't realize how much fun I was having. So what are you doing now? I see your screen name is 757300, so I assume you are still flying? If so, who for?

Great video. It gives me motivation! I'm applying to the USAF via OTS. The application goes in tomorrow!

I'm a cadet at UC det 665. I'll be in field training this summer and will start competing for a pilot slot. Just wanted to ask for any advice for field training that'll help me get to UPT upon commissioning...Thanks a bunch.

I attended FT over 25yrs ago, but back in the day, the number one graduate from each camp was guaranteed a scholarship and, if qualified, special consideration for UPT. This was during the Reagan buildup and pilot slots were not rare (my ROTC senior class of 15 had 7 pilot slots). You will always improve your odds by being selected as a distinguished graduate from FT, so just go do your best and make sure your Det CO knows your desires and qualifications. He's the one who's going to bat for you!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'm pretty much in control of my own destiny so long as I apply myself, do well at field training and keep my GPA up. Thanks again

I love this video as it brings back great memories of my Pilot Training Days in the T-38 at Craig AFB,Alabama, Class of 69-04.
