Mozart Andante KV 616 F-Major

Back

Alexander Bildau Live Mozart (1756-1791) Andante For A Little Mechanical Organ Written 1791 "I hate that job and I can't finish it", he wrote to his wife. The Greatest Composer Of All Times, always short of money, sick from vanguard medical treatment (quicksilver was the drug of the day) and outlawed by the Austrian court ("only the best are worth to entertain our noble ears"), finally accepted the humiliating task and wrote background music, set for silly mechanical instruments. The Andante KV 616 is one of those works. Commissioned by the illustrious Count von Deym for his cabinet of wax sculptures in Vienna - kind of a predecessor of Madame Tussauds and famous for its attractive mix of erotic, morbid and heroic showcases - the music box was to be placed into a chamber displaying three sexy girls on a bed. Those waxen beauties were Mozart's most attentive listeners. (Comment by A. Bildau, added by KCB)

Regardless of what instrument this was meant for, the instrument that composed it was flawless. 6-1-6 in 6 major indeed. 'Andante for A Little Mechanical Organ'...a heart.

Mozart is the rarest divine human being who added so much beautiful and immortal things to this crooked world.Too bad he had to be born in country like Austria where he was treated as a piece of trash and tossed into an unknown hole without dignity, now Austria is proud that he is from Austria!Man you dont even know whereabouts of his grave and didnt honor the poor guy during his lifetime. What a hypocrisy!I wish he was born in Germany where artists are treated with respect and dignity!!

Do you know why he ended in the trash-hole? <=( It wasn't only Mozart that suffered from the last years of 1780 to early 1790s. You see it broke out war between Austria and the Ottoman Empire. The nobility didn't care for artists anylonger since their duty, under war, was to cast shit about their enemie and support the armie with money. So mozart and many other artists that wasn't hired in a court suffered from the lack of patrons. =( War has never been a good thing.
