Debate question about broadband internet
BackA question about America's broadband penetration for the YouTube debate from Jeff Jarvis of New Jersey. The U.S. has fallen to 25th in broadband penetration worldwide. Our access in the U.S. costs 12 times more than Japan's on average yet Japan's is 12 times faster than ours. I ask the candidates: Will you pledge today to assure all Americans affordable -- open -- high-speed internet access and how will you do that? This is vital for our economy, education, culture and future.

Hundreds of WISPs (Wireless Internet Service Provider) across the country are working hard to do just that. What we need is the FCC to allocate RF spectrum with rules that will allows us to accomplish this.
