Well he is in good company then, Charles Manson tried out for the Monkees and was rejected. Mike, Davy, Mickey, and Charlie?

No, that's an urban legend already debunked. Charles Manson was in prison when the Monkees auditions took place.

Actually, You are right. Charles Manson wasn't paroled early for cashing a Treasury Check until 1966. The Mann act charges had been dropped. Charlie most likely started the rumor himself.
Danny Hutton (Three Dog Night) and Harry Nilsson were in the auditions.

zeppzo4 (Sunday 24th of August 2008 07:53:15 PM)
who was in this band?

This configuration was Stephen Stills, Richie Furay (in the suit, playing the 12 string), Bruce Palmer (bass), Dewey Martin (drums) and David Crosby the master of harmonies on the 3rd guitar, just filling in for this show. Other members of the band included the brilliant bassist Jim Fielder and of course Neil. David and the Springfield knew each other from playing on numerous bills around LA at that time.
