I have a couple of questions: What is the purpose of the primaries/caucuses in electing the party nominee if the delegates at the DNC do the same? Is the DNC nomination a formality in preparation of the delegates nominating for the actual presidential election?
Also what is the purpose of getting votes from non voteholding territories like Samoa and "Democrats living abroad"??
Thank you to the knowledgeable who reply in advance, it has been years since I took government!

Thank you for the thoughtful questions. I would encourage you to post this question on the Convention 101 piece. It's a video we produced just this past week, so people with answers to your questions are most likely to see it! Thanks.

Yes I now believe that sex should not be a factor, she stuck in there for a long time and I respect her for that. However unfortunately we now are stuck with either Obama or McCain.

Yes I have changed my views a little bit, however it was just the way I was raised, even the women in my family agree with the sex issue, and I was kind of upset with the whole election thing because nobody actually votes based on who is right for the job only who it talked most about in new media. However now that ron paul is out of the picture (of course) we're stuck with mccain or obama *sigh* well I definately am not going the mccain route.

Most party deligates are retarded dumbasses. Proposition 198 was fair but it was struck down by the Supreme Court because they claimed it violated a parties right to "freedom of association" which is a legal concept derived from farfetched interpretations of the first amendment. It's like the right to privacy for private clubs. Can you smell the BS? These candidates are running for public office, not their party's offices. Open primaries should be Constitutionally mandated.

nice one 217 :)
this video's good but still doesn't really answer the question of how someone can win more votes, but the other party get's more delegates. unless that only happnes witht he duper delegates taken into account.
if there's 10 delegates (excluding supers) and obama gets 70% of the votes, does that mean he gets 7 delegates?
